Today I was delighted to support another litterpick with some S2 pupils and their teacher from Mackie Academy, Stonehaven. Pupils removed another 2 kgs of litter from Mackie playing fields and the lane running by the school wall which leads into Mineralwell Park.
Quite a few vintage litter finds were made with a can and several crisps and sweets packets – still completely intact from 2008, dropped before the pupils were even born – with others from 2014 and 2020 and many more recent. I also removed 3 abandoned dog poo bags from the lane.
A huge well done to the pupils who requested this litterpick and are keen to do more to keep the school grounds and surrounding areas clean and safe for the community, animals and the environment. It was great being able to support and enjoy the afternoon with them.
With #SpringCleanScotland starting next Friday, 21st March – 21st April, (#GBSpringClean in England and Wales, 21st March – 6th April) it’s a great time to get outside and arrange a litterpick. It’s a great motivator as you can immediately see the impact you make and you just never know what you’ll find. Local councils are usually delighted to support by lending litterpickers etc and if you’re local to Stonehaven we can do that too. Please also get in touch and let us know how you get on!
